Paphiopedilum primulinum var. purpurascens

Sequential blooming species are easy to grow. Give them a little more light than you would a mottled leaf species or hybrid.

This type of Paphiopedilum falls into the Cochlopedilum category, also known as the “ever-bloom” variety as spikes can bloom continuously for up to 3 years (the secret is proper watering, and never allowing the plants to go dry at the root system). Most Cochlopedilum flower for about 1 year, but this variety seems to flower the longest.

Perhaps the nicest form of this species we have seen.
